A gentle goodbye to long time EARS resident, Lilli, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Lilli, who for many years shared a paddock with fellow rescue Tonio, crossed the rainbow bridge with the help of veterinarians after a short illness.

We first met this sweet girl under horrific circumstances. She and Tonio were being forced to pull an overloaded cart, despite their emaciated condition. Near collapse, the pair were pulled over by EARS Sanctuary founder Jo Sedgwick who, with the assistance of law enforcement, confiscated the donkeys and rushed them to the Sanctuary for treatment. With the love and care they received at EARS they blossomed and grew to enjoy the attention of Sanctuary visitors.
Our hearts were very sore to have to say goodbye to Lilli. Tonio is now living with a larger herd of males and seems to be enjoying himself immensely in the huge paddock with its beautiful dam and tall trees.
Welcome sweet Elsa
A gentle goodbye led to a warm hello to baby Elsa, a nine-month-old donkey stolen from a feral herd near Greyton but rescued from her captors by EARS. Elsa is the prettiest young lady but has the loudest voice which she uses at every opportunity. She was named after EARS Charity Shop volunteer Elsa
